Day 1/ two stages

Travelling to Alice Springs was good and fun apart from being randomly explosive tested twice and getting caught trying to sneak co2 cartridges onto the plane. I really would like to thank the locals taking us in for the week. Mr English was kind enough to supply dinner every night and give me riding food otherwise i don't think it would have been the riding that killed me. On the Monday morning I woke up at 7 o'clock and prepared for the race by going to the toilet and having breakfast, I got my racing gear together and set out for stage 1. Starting off as a big group with the police escort was really good. I found riding in Alice Springs tougher then what I had expected. There was a lot of sand and the hills were hard in my opinion. Alice Springs is very different than back over in NSW. I think after riding here it would be possible to ride anywhere and anything. There was rocks, drops and lots of tracks that were hard to follow. I did a very long lap but still finished at 2:15 in the afternoon. Later on in the afternoon we went to Anzac Hill where stage 2 was staged. It was a hill climb up the 300 meter road to the top. Everyone was doing really good times, and I'm satisfied with my 1 minute and 45 seconds. Our group got a special mention by the announcer. Day was was tough but very enjoyable still.
